The journey at a glance.
The eleven-day version takes the same shape as the ten-day circuit and uses the extra day to break the long run out to the Serengeti with a night at Lake Manyara.
That single change matters more than it sounds. It removes the hardest driving day of the Tanzanian half, and it adds a habitat — groundwater forest and alkaline lake shore — that neither the Serengeti nor the crater has.
If you are choosing between the ten and eleven-day routes, take this one unless your dates are fixed.

Day 1Nairobi → Maasai Mara
Down into the Rift and across to the Mara.
Morning collection in Nairobi, west over the escarpment with a viewpoint stop, then Narok and the reserve. Lunch at camp and an afternoon game drive.

Day 2Maasai Mara
A full day on the plains.
Out after breakfast with a picnic lunch, covering the open grassland and the river country and staying out through the best of the light.

Day 3Maasai Mara → Lake Nakuru
North along the valley floor.
An optional early village visit, then breakfast and the drive north past Longonot and Naivasha with lunch on the way.

Day 4Lake Nakuru → Amboseli
Rhino at dawn, the mountain by evening.
A morning game drive at Nakuru, then the long drive south around Nairobi towards the border country, arriving in Amboseli in the late afternoon.

Day 5Amboseli
A full day with the herds.
Out early for the mountain, then a day worked between the dry plains and the permanent swamps where elephant, buffalo and hippo concentrate.

Day 6Amboseli → Namanga → Arusha
Across the border.
Travel to Namanga, cross into Tanzania and continue toward Arusha for the night. Border and vehicle arrangements are confirmed before departure.

Day 7Arusha → Lake Manyara
Under the Rift wall.
A short drive west to Mto wa Mbu and into Lake Manyara, where groundwater forest gives way to woodland and the alkaline lake shore in a few kilometres. Baboon troops and blue monkeys in the forest; hippo, flamingo and pelican on the water.

Day 8Lake Manyara → Serengeti
Over the highlands, onto the plains.
The road climbs through Karatu to the Ngorongoro rim, runs along it, and then drops onto the Serengeti, with an optional stop at Olduvai Gorge. A game drive takes you in to camp.

A long morning on the plains, then up to the rim.
Out early with picnic lunches for a long game drive around Seronera and the kopjes, then east and up into the highlands for the night.

The route crosses by road at Namanga and continues toward Arusha. We confirm the entry requirements, costs and vehicle arrangements for your dates before travel.
Do we change vehicles and guides at the border?
Travel is arranged by 4×4 Safari Land Cruiser, with cross-border vehicle and guide arrangements confirmed according to the operating itinerary.
Is the price per person?
Yes. Published rates are per person sharing a twin or double room. Solo travellers pay a single-occupancy supplement, which we quote with the rest of the trip.
What does the final price depend on?
Travel dates, the number of people travelling, your accommodation tier, park fees at the time of travel and vehicle arrangements. We reprice every enquiry for the exact dates rather than working from a fixed sheet.
Can the itinerary be changed?
Yes. The route below is the standard shape of the trip. Nights can be added or moved, and destinations can be swapped, as long as the driving distances still work.
Are park fees included?
Yes. All park and reserve entrance fees for the parks in the itinerary are included in the quoted price.
What vehicle will we use?
Road safaris use a 4×4 Safari Land Cruiser. Private departures have their own vehicle; group departures share the vehicle with fellow travellers.
Can children join this safari?
