What this trip is.
The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust runs a nursery for orphaned elephant calves on the edge of Nairobi National Park. Visiting hours are limited to a single daily window, when the calves come in to feed and the keepers explain each animal's history.
It is genuinely a working conservation operation rather than an attraction, and the visiting slot is short. We arrange the timing around it rather than the other way round.
